Janet Carter, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Janet Carter, OD first earned her Bachelor of Arts in Zoology and her Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1979 she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry.
Dr. Carter served as the Treasurer of the Nevada Optometric Association from 1991 to 1992 and was appointed by Governor Robert Miller to the Nevada State Board of Optometry in 1992. She served on that licensing board until 2001, and was its President from 1996 to 2001. Dr. Carter was a member of the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry (ARBO) Board of Directors from 2001 to 2005 and was ARBO President in 2005-2006. She was elected to the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) Board of Directors in 2002 after having served on the NBEO Patient Assessment and Management (PAM) examination committee. She served as NBEO President from 2007 to 2009.
Dr. Carter is a member of the Nevada Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Society, and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1990.  Dr. Carter was formerly the Director of Clinical Services for Pacific Laser Eye Center of Northern Nevada, and is now in private practice at the Eyecare Center in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
